Post Amputation

Hi everyone,

Our 2 year old Goldendoodle Roops had her amputation on Wednesday, due to osteosarcoma, and has been home with us for two days now. The doctors and nurses said they were amazed by her recovery while in the hospital and that she was up walking around on her own the same night of the surgery. So far at home the amputation has not slowed her down and she is moving around fine with no problems. Roops has just as much energy as she did before and I find myself trying to slow her down as she wants to go go go. . With all of that being said we still have a long road ahead of us with chemo but to see her now and know that she is in less pain and things will get better is an amazing feeling. This website has been such a huge help to read everyone else’s stories and to have an understanding of what we were going to face. It made this whole process a lot easier for my wife and I and we are truly grateful for it.

  1. Way to go Roops!!!! YAAAAAAAAAY! !! Nothing is better for the healing process than being home!!

Yeah, rest is real importnt right now. Sounds like Roops doesn’t agree though! Once the hospital meds wear off and you try and get the pain pills balanced, he may not feel as perky for a few days!

Look forward to celebrating continuous victories and hearing all about the immense spoiling that will be bestowed upon you! Yeah, even more than before…..if that’s possible!

    Looking forward to pictures too!

Steak and ice cream for the homecoming pawty!!

    Hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

  2. Wooohoo for Roops! Oh my gosh I’m so glad you updated to let us know things continue getting better and better. She’s really kicking butt, I’m so hoppy for you!

P.S. Thank you for the kind words about this community, you touch all of our hearts.
